Smiles with a Stranger

September 24, 2015

I love meeting people from different countries ever since I was a kid. I've always been the kid with pen-pals. Once I even wrote someone in prison when I was eleven years old (I had no idea until I was older I had written a letter to a convicted felon...LAUGH OUT LOUD). Don't judge me there was an ad in the newspaper advertising pen-pals. Also, an exchange student from Egypt stayed with family when I was about 13 years old. She blew my mind! When I was growing up in Jamaica, Egypt seemed so far away. Nowadays every country seems much closer because the country girl left the bush. Literally! :D

I am captivated by the people I meet or just see on the street. The other day one of my best friends and her partner were in Jeju for their holiday. We went to the market to purchase a raincoat because we decided we would go on a little adventure during a typhoon. This we needed raincoats for... Both my friend Hyoyoung and her partner had already picked up theirs, so I needed to sort myself out with a yellow raincoat!! I was like a kid. I could not even remember the last time I bought or wore a raincoat. I am not even going to lie, I was a little bit pumped! :) :)

Anywho, as we were walking to purchase my raincoat, I saw a beautiful lady with gray hair selling fruits. I was loving her hair so much. I kept telling my friend how much I loved the lady's hair. As I walked by I smiled at her and she smiled back. I had an unusual hairstyle, but she seemed elated than surprised when she saw me. I smiled, she smiled and when I was walking back towards her, I keep yapping to my friend how I loved her hair, aaaaaahhhhhgain. Spontaneously, I asked her if I could take a photo with her. She said, yes and that I was beautiful and she loved my hair (blushhhhhhhh). I told her, she was beautiful and I loved her hair, too. I melted because we had the same thoughts about each other before exchanging a single word. My day was made because we connected with a smile first. It blew my mind that we were thinking the same thing. There are so many lovely people in the world and it makes me happy to meet so many new people on a regular basis. Makes my heart full :)

Check out a few more photos from our visit to the market below.

I hope you enjoyed this post and don't forget to appreciate the little things. Shout out to Hyoyoung and Andy for flying in from Shanghai:) Please let me know your thoughts in the comments section below. Lxxx
