Lake Iseo: Italy

Why I Love Italy

I am from a very small town in Jamaica, but my whole life I dreamt of traveling the world. I have no idea how this dream began, but I always knew I would be traveling a ton. I had always wanted to go to Italy and it was awesome I got to spend the summer there. Bob Marley played his biggest concert at San Siro Stadium in Milan back in 1980, which isn't long before I was born and before Bob Marley passed away. Not to mention, I had always heard about how amazing the food was, but I had never tried Italian food before because I lived in the countryside of Jamaica. I don't think I had spaghetti until I moved to America,  I was sixteen years old. Also, I had seen Roman Holiday in black and white as a kid and loved it so much. If you have never seen Roman Holiday and you love old films, this might the film for you :-) Audrey Hepburn is delightful in it... I am rambling...but watch the movie!!

Lake Iseo

With that said, Italy had been my #1 destination to travel to for a very long time. I won't get too personal in this post, but my boyfriend is Italian and I visited him in Italy. I was blown away by all my experiences there. It's amazeballs to experience Italy with an Italian. I think it would have been a totally different experience if I had visited on my own or with a non-Italian. It would still be fun, but a different kind of fun. Anywho, yes I know that's not a word, but we are all friends here, so no need to be formal... On this beautiful summer evening some friends, my boyfriend and I watch the sunset from Lake Iseo or Lago d'Iseo in Italian. The lake is located Northern Italy, so the surrounding mountains were green and lush in the summer time. The lake is oh so mystical. Lake Iseo is one of the most beautiful lakes in Italy in my opinion. Lake Como or George Clooney's Lake gets all the attention because George Clooney has a house on the lake, but Lake Iseo is just as magical, minus the celebrity fanfare. The location might be tricky to get to because it isn't located super close any major cities, but it is accessible. Only an hour and thirty minutes from Milan by car it can get crowded on a hot summer day. Lots of people tanning, swimming, sailing, kayaking, speed boating, playing some sort of game or some major event happening there. It is always buzzing. Mostly locals and European vacationers generally visit Lake Iseo, I think I was the only Jamaican America there, Hehehe.

If you fancy going here, it is best to get an international drivers license and drive from Milan to Lake Iseo and see a bit more of the real Italy. It was truly magical to be there with good company and the magic of the sunset and the lake was beyond magical. I hope you can visit someday. Let me know if you ever make it there or have ever been there. I hope to be back on the lake next summer to make more memories in Italia!
