Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak: Jeju Island

July 20, 2015

Jeju island is filled so many adventures. I had some friends in town from Shanghai and we just went with the flow of things, even though the weather was terrible. We embraced the weather conditions and we had the best time. The Eastside of the island is perfect to watch the sunrise. That was the main reason we went there, but there was no amazing sunrise because it was way too rainy. It was basically a typhoon! The next best thing was to make the best of what the universe had provided us. With no complaints, no negative energy- we were able to embrace the strong wind and heavy rains of the typhoon.

We went to a popular local in Seongsan called Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a few reasons. One it was formed after a volcano erupted many moons ago. One hundred thousand moons to be exact.  Two, there is a crater at the top of the peak. We were not able to see it because it was too foggy at the top of the peak. Three, it is the best place to see the most amazeballs sunrise on Jeju Island. Four, incredible views from a distance. Five, the geological formations were awesome. I am sure I could go on and on about it, but I am not gonna :D

Let me get back to the cheeky typhoon we were dancing and laughing though in order to get to the peak. We went to purchase our tickets to go up to the peak, but they said we couldn't because it was too windy. After the ticketing office closed, everyone started to go up to the top, so my friends and I went up, as well. We were just badasses :D I always say, "Only in Korea!"

We went up and though visibility was terrible, it was still an awesome view. We had a blast and by far one of the BEST times I've had on Jeju Island. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I loved that our group stayed positive and upbeat the whole time. If you ever get a chance to visit Jeju Island, I would highly recommend visiting Seongsan Ilchulbong.
